House Keeping Services

Do You Offer Daily House Keeping?

In order to minimise our impact on the environment, we have made the decision to eliminate daily housekeeping. By reducing unnecessary power, water, and linen usage, we hope to contribute to a more sustainable future. If guests desire additional housekeeping services during their stay, our front-of-house team will be more than happy to assist upon request.

Important Information

Guest Safety, Comfort, and Well-Being

To ensure that all of our guests have a safe & enjoyable stay with us we ask that all guests follow our house rules:

  • That all guest vacate their apartment by 11 am on the day of departure. A Late Check-Out is available for £25.00 per hour (subject to availability and only available until 2 pm).
  • Please consider other guests in respect of noise levels. Many of our guests are families who have small children.
  • As a fire precaution, we do not allow the use of candles or other open flames within the apartments. We ask for all residents under no circumstances to drape flammable objects such as towels or clothing, etc over light fittings or heaters.
  • The fire alarms are tested weekly on Wednesdays at 12:30 pm.
  • Please refrain from smoking in all areas of the building. Please note that smoking in non-smoking areas is illegal in Scotland and offenders may be prosecuted.

Our guests are required to provide a pre-authorisation on a credit or debit card upon arrival. The pre-authorisation amount is £100 per one-bedroom & studio apartment & £150 per two-bed, three-bed or our penthouse apartment. This pre-authorisation is to cover any extras or incidents that may occur while you are staying with us. Please note that a pre-authorisation is not a payment and is held by your bank and will be released to you upon departure if no incidences occur whilst you stay with us. Depending on your bank the pre-authorisation may take up to 9-10 working days to be released.

Appliance Instructions

Oven

  1. Make sure the plug for the oven which is located on the kitchen wall is switch-on. We keep it switched off prior to guests’ arrival for safety and environmental reasons. Once you have turned the switch on you will notice that the oven’s clock will appear.
  2. Select the desired cooking option (oven or grill etc).
  3. Select the desired temperature

Dishwasher

1. Open the door

2. Put in dishwasher cleaning tablet into small silver recess.

 Electric Shower

  1. Ensure the electric shower’s power switch is on which will either be located at the entrance of the door frame of the bathroom or in the hall.
  2. Adjust water pressure
  3. Adjust temperature

Please note: that only our three-bedroom apartments have electric showers, all other apartment types do not require the above instructions.

Bath with Shower Head

  1. Turn on the water
  2. Adjust temperature

Heating

  1. To turn the heating on simply turn the thermostat in the hallway to the right until you hear a “click”. The heating will now be on.
  2. The temperature can now be controlled by the thermostat to suit your needs.
  3. To turn the heating off. Turn the thermostat on the wall to the left until you hear a “click”.

Washer/Dryer

  1. Open drawer on the top left
  2. Insert washing powder to left-hand slot
  3. Close drawer
  4. Select wash temperature on the dial on right by turning to the left.
  5. Press the start button.

Guest can purchase tablets at reception for a cost of £1 per tablet

Heat Detectors

Please ensure the cooker extractor fan is switched on to full power whilst cooking or using the toaster.

Should the fire alarm go off reception staff, having been alerted by the fire system, will phone to ensure everything is ok. Please answer this call promptly as if no reply is given immediately the fire brigade may be called.

The alarm should NEVER be silenced in the event of a real fire, no matter how small.

There are several Break Glass points throughout public areas of the building. These can be used if a genuine fire takes place.

Furthermore, fire blankets are located in every apartment’s kitchen.

With a bold, elegant & luxurious interior mixing Georgian styles with a fresh contemporary twist, the design of the bar takes reference from 1800’s postal offices of which the building shares its past use. Scotland is distinguished across the globe for providing some of the finest produce. The bar resources products from an array of some of Scotland’s finest suppliers all of which share our environmental values. In the future, we look to offer a range of light meals & small plates to accompany our drinks menu which will focus on a fine selection of some of the best Scottish whiskies and spirits.

Luggage Storage

We provide free luggage storage after check-out, simply speak with a member of our reception team upon departure. Over-night storage is also available at a cost of £5.00 per night per suitcase.

Keycards

All guests are issued with a keycard upon check-in.

The key operates the following:

  • Apartment doors
  • The main entrance to the building which is usually  locked between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am

In the interest of security, please keep the keycard safe at all times. If the keycard is misplaced, please contact Reception.

Please be advised that keeping your keycard near a source of magnetism, such as a mobile phone, will wipe the information from the card.

Trams

Edinburgh Trams run frequently from Edinburgh Airport to York Place.

Tickets can be bought from the machines at each tram stop.

Airport Transfer

Bus’s, taxi’s and people carriers can be arranged by reception to transfer you to the airport. A taxi to the airport costs approximately £20.

Airlink

The blue Airlink bus runs frequently between Waverley Bridge and Edinburgh Airport. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes.

Dinning

We are happy for you to order via a delivery service to your apartments such as Deliveroo or Uber Eats delivery. Just ask them to pop it into reception for a contact-free delivery. Remember to keep an eye on your app so you know when it has arrived and please notify reception so that they are aware.

Wake Up Calls

As Reception is open 24 hours, it is possible to order a wake-up call for any time of day or night.

Car Parking

There is no onsite car parking available at Princes Street Suites but our guests are entitled to receive a 40% discounted partner rate of £14.40 for 24 hours at the nearby QPARK which offers car parking in the centre of the city and only a short walk from our hotel.

How to obtain our discounted partner rate

Guests are required to pre-book their car parking space via the Q-park website prior to arrival, they will be required to provide their vehicle registration and enter the following discount code: PSSOM40

The car park is located on Greenside Row, EH1 3AN (Just off the East End of Princes Street, located underneath the OMNI Centre and Edinburgh Playhouse and is a short walk away from Princes Street approximately 5 minutes walk.

There is no onsite car parking available at Princes Street Suites. Our guests are entitled to receive a discounted partner rate of £12 for 24 hours at the nearby QPARK which offers car parking in the centre of the city and is only a short walk from our apartments. The car park is located on Greenside Row, EH1 3AN (Just off the East End of Princes Street, located underneath the OMNI Centre and Edinburgh Playhouse and is a short walk away from Princes Street approximately 5 minutes walk.

Please Note: When using contactless payments at Q-park, our guests won’t be qualified for our discounted partner rate. In order to use a follow-on ticket (given to our guests on check out), you must take a paper ticket on arrival at the car park.

Fire

In the event of fire contact, the fire brigade immediately by using your mobile phone or dial 0 for the reception as outside calls are not available. Dial 999 and ask for the fire service. Next, activate the fire alarms within the building by smashing one of the ‘Break Glass’ boxes located in the common landing areas. Under no circumstance should guests attempt to tackle fires themselves.

Fire Evacuation Procedures

On hearing the fire alarm please leave the apartment immediately.

Do not use the lift, but use the stairwell to go to the ground floor level.

The assembly point is to the left of the entrance outside the entrance to the cemetery.

Edinburgh Bus Station is located (Elder Street, EH1 3DX) in St Andrew’s Square, in the east of the city center. It is only 5 minutes walk away from Waverley train station and from the Airlink 100 bus, the Airport Express Shuttle.

  • Megabus – Part of the Stagecoach group serving Scotland, England, and Wales.

Edinburgh Waverley railway station is the principal station serving the city although there is also Haymarket which is located in the East end. Waverley is within a short walk from our property and located in the city center on Princes Street (Princes St, Edinburgh EH1 1BB).
