Each year the city brings a range of annual events and world-leading celebrations, bringing the best talent from across the globe to Edinburgh’s streets and stages. Annually the city brings over 3,000 events, 25,000+ performers, with over 4.5 million attendances from over the globe.
Here is a list of some of our favourite events and festivals that are being hosted in Edinburgh this summer. There is something for everyone from art, music, food & science you won’t want to be anywhere else this summer.
Edinburgh Science Festival 1-16 April
The festival embraces the concepts of experimentation, innovation, creativity, curiosity and invention.
It is one of the largest and most respected jazz and blues festivals in Europe. Providing a programme that spans the entire history of the music from ragtime to modern jazz to Chicago blues and beyond.
A festival celebrating a collective mix of arts with notable figures from the international world of music (especially classical music) and the performing arts as well as visual art exhibitions, talks and workshops.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival 8 – 23 August
The world’s oldest continually running film festival. EIFF presents both UK and international films, in all genres and lengths. It also presents themed retrospectives and other specialised programming strands.
Edinburgh’s Christmas and Hogmanay – Late December
When it comes to Hogmanay, Edinburgh certainly knows how to put on a show whether it’s the enchanting torchlight procession, the famous Hogmanay street party, and spectacular firework display, or a toe-tapping ceilidh and concert in Princes Street Gardens.
